I
am interested in abstraction and in other ways of representing aspects
of the world. I am also interested in the crossover between painting
and sculpture.
Main media used: acrylics, oils, mixed media (including acrylics with
pencil, charcoal, oil pastels and/or collage), and found objects.
Art-related studies:
2008 - currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Visual Arts course
at Griffith University/Qld. College of Art, South Bank campus. Studio
area - painting.
2002 - Public Art course completed at Bremer Institute of TAFE, Salisbury
campus.
2000 - Short course completed at Wynnum campus of Moreton Institute
of TAFE, for Adult Community Education teachers.
1999 - Graduate Diploma in Art (Visual Art) completed at Monash University,
Gipplsand campus. Studio area - Painting (combined with assemblage).
1996 - Completed two modules for the Certificate in Training and Development,
at South Bank Institute of TAFE, South Brisbane campus.
1990 - Bachelor of Creative Arts (Fine Arts) degree completed, at University
of Southern Qld's Toowoomba campus. Studio areas - Painting and Sculpture.
1987 - Certificate of Introductory Art & Design and Certificate
of Drawing (one semester each) completed at Mt. Gravatt TAFE college,
Brisbane.
Art-related employment:
2008 - Casual painting tutor at the BIA, since February 2006.
2008 - Tutor for Flying Arts, Inc., as part of their Regional Program
(painting and mixed media, on a casual basis). Also held same position
in 2007 and 2006. Worked on two mural projects as part of this program
during 2002.
2008 - Freelance workshop facilitator in many Qld. schools since 1998
(on a casual basis) - workshops in painting, mixed media and some experimental
drawing.
2006 - Artist-in-Residence at Runcorn Heights State School, as part
of an Art Built-In project. Facilitated drawing and painting workshops
for students from all year levels. Facilitated painting of two large
murals and 24 totem poles.
2001 - Workshop facilitator with Hands on Art, Inc., on a casual basis,
since 1995.
2001 - Exhibitions assistant at Griffith Artworks, Nathan campus of
Griffith University (on a casual basis), since 1999.
